The St. Johns County Master Gardeners program holds its annual fall plant sale Saturday and Sunday in St. Augustine.

The sale runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center, 3125 Agricultural Center Drive. It goes on rain or shine.

Landscape plants and seedlings on offer

Landscape plants, houseplants and vegetable seedlings will be available for purchase, according to the UF/IFAS St. Johns County Extension Office. The sale promotes native and Florida-friendly plants suited to Northeast Florida landscapes. Proceeds support the Master Gardeners' educational outreach and community programming in St. Johns County.

Visitors can also walk through the Demonstration Gardens on the Agricultural Center property to see local gardening practices in action.

Four workshops planned over the weekend

Four workshops are scheduled across the two days, three at no cost and one with a $5 materials fee.

Saturday:

• 10 a.m.: Build Your Own Terrarium Workshop. Participants create a take-home terrarium for $5.
• Noon: Tips & Tricks on Planting Your New Plant, led by Master Gardener volunteer Barbara.

Sunday:

• 10 a.m.: Hydroponics 101, led by Agriculture Agent Jeet Ramjattan of the UF/IFAS St. Johns County Extension Office. The session covers the basics of growing plants without soil.
• 11 a.m.: Tips & Tricks on Planting Your New Plant, a second session led by Master Gardener volunteer Barbara.

Sale ties into county conservation goals

The plant sale is open to gardeners of all experience levels. Native and Florida-friendly varieties on offer align with the St. Johns County Strategic Plan priority to enhance conservation, according to the Extension Office.
