Several St. Johns County roads will see partial closures starting Monday, Nov. 2, as the Florida Department of Transportation continues construction work across the area.
FDOT scheduled the lane restrictions for Nov. 2 through Friday, Nov. 6, according to the St. Augustine Record. The closures are tied to ongoing FDOT projects in the county. The Record published a full list of affected roads and closure times on Oct. 30.
The Nov. 2–6 closures follow a similar round of FDOT lane restrictions two weeks earlier. During the week of Oct. 19–23, FDOT closed lanes on State Road 16, U.S. 1 and other county roads for construction.
Separately, the King Street bridge over the San Sebastian River in St. Augustine remains closed to traffic. The bridge shut down April 13 for rehabilitation work expected to last "approximately seven months," according to a City of St. Augustine notice cited by Market Makers FL.
FDOT changed the project from a full bridge replacement to a rehabilitation after community input and testing found the structure sound. That decision cut the closure from a full year to seven months. J.B. Coxwell holds the $13.4 million contract.
FDOT spokesperson Jacob Pickering told Action News Jax in late March that the department wanted to "get that bridge back open for Nights of Lights." No reopening date has been announced.
Drivers can detour around the King Street closure using U.S. 1 and Malaga Street, where a temporary signal is in place. Real-time road conditions are available at FL511.
