Creekside High School soccer player Luke Amann will represent the Philippines at the Seoul Haechi Cup in South Korea, earning a spot on the country's Under-18 men's national team for the seven-team international youth tournament running Aug. 31 through Sept. 6.

The call-up is not Amann's first time wearing the Philippines jersey. A family member celebrated the news on Instagram on Monday, Aug. 24:

Amann, a wing midfielder at Creekside, also plays club soccer for Sporting JAX Soccer Academy's U18 Boys ECNL team in Jacksonville. The academy previously announced his selection to a Philippine U19 Boys National Team camp, calling it a great opportunity and well-deserved recognition of his play.

The Florida Times-Union's Varsity Weekly roundup first reported the call-up on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Amann is part of a broader push by the Philippines Football Federation to recruit diaspora talent from American youth programs. Multiple U.S.-based players with Filipino heritage received call-ups for the Seoul Haechi Cup, including athletes from Atletico's MLS Next U19 program and DD8 Academy. That pipeline connecting American club soccer to Philippine national teams could give Amann, and players like him, a path to senior international competition as the federation builds its player pool from across the globe.
