Creekside's boys golf team shot a 311 to finish fifth out of five teams at the Birdies at Bold City Invitational on Monday, Aug. 24, the Knights' first competitive round of the fall season.
Tocoi Creek ran away with the tournament title at 287, finishing 24 strokes ahead of Creekside on the par-72 Marsh Landing Country Club course in Ponte Vedra Beach. Providence placed second at 293, while Beachside and St. Johns Country Day tied for third at 303, according to scores published by the Florida Times-Union.
No Creekside player cracked the top three individually. Providence's Cole led all golfers with a 7-under 65, followed by Tocoi Creek's Kinnare and Beachside's Kondal, who each carded 67.
The 311 marks a starting point for a program that made school history in October 2023, when the Knights qualified for the FHSAA State Championship for the first time after posting a 296 at St. John's Golf and Country Club. That team advanced to Mission Inn for the state tournament.
Football: Knights host Fleming Island on Aug. 28
Creekside's fall sports calendar stays busy beyond the links. The Knights football team, 1-0 after a 21-14 comeback win over Nease on Friday, Aug. 21, hosts Fleming Island at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28.
Quarterback Rozzi Sperry connected with Dario Griffin on a first-half touchdown pass against Nease, and the Knights scored the go-ahead touchdown with 90 seconds remaining. Fleming Island enters the matchup 1-0 as well after blanking Atlantic Coast 33-0 in Week 1, a game highlighted by Zion Longmire's 80-yard touchdown run.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Knight Stadium.
