A flock of wild turkeys trailed an alligator across the Hole 10 fairway at St. Johns Golf Club in Elkton, and the club's Instagram account caught the whole thing on video.

The clip, posted to the @st.johnsgolfclub Instagram page, shows several turkeys following close behind the gator as it crossed the fairway. The birds appeared to escort the reptile off the course.

The Florida Times-Union first reported the encounter on Sept. 17 in a story by reporter Samantha Neely. The video spread quickly. The St. Augustine Record shared it on X on Sunday, Sept. 20, and outlets including the Naples Daily News and the Fort Myers News-Press posted the clip to their Facebook pages.

St. Johns Golf Club operates under St. Johns Golf Management in Elkton, in western St. Johns County.
