Vandals caused more than $2,000 in damage to field equipment at a St. Johns playing field complex Saturday night, Sept. 26, the youth soccer organization Sporting JAX said in a Facebook post.

The damage occurred at Veterans Park off Race Track Road, according to Action News Jax, which first reported the incident Sunday, Sept. 27. The specific equipment damaged has not been described publicly.

Sporting JAX fields professional soccer teams and runs a youth academy. Its ownership group includes Ricky Caplin, former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. The organization is planning a 15,000-seat stadium near St. Johns Town Center for its professional teams, with a target opening in 2028.

No arrests have been announced. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has not publicly confirmed whether it is investigating the incident.
