St. Johns Moms hosts its fifth annual Halloween bash at The Clay Theatre in Green Cove Springs on Oct. 30.

The Not So Spooky Halloween Market & Bash runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and features a sensory-friendly first hour, with $5 from every ticket going to Best Buddies North Florida. The event includes a costume contest, a local vendor market, kid crafts and activities, catered dinner bites, sweet treats, mocktails and live music, according to the event listing on the St. Johns Moms website.

The opening hour, from 5 to 6 p.m., is a sensory-friendly window. Organizers said the first hour will feature no fog, low or no music, steady lighting with no flashing or color-changing effects and "a calmer overall energy," according to the group's vendor guidelines. A sensory station stocked with headphones and fidgets will stay open all evening for any family that needs it.

Best Buddies North Florida, the event's nonprofit partner, will host kid crafts and activities during the bash. The organization works to end the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), according to Best Buddies International. Five dollars from each ticket goes to the group's Champion of the Year Gala, an annual competition where community leaders raise funds for Best Buddies.

A portion of each $120 vendor spot also benefits the gala, according to the St. Johns Moms vendor application page. The group is seeking shop vendors, experience vendors such as balloon artists and entertainers, food and drink vendors and performers.
