St. Johns County deputies arrested a 60-year-old man after finding him on a homeowner's front porch with a bottle of liquor and a bag of food taken from inside the home.

Deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, the St. Johns Citizen reported, citing the arrest report. The homeowners told deputies a man wearing a multicolored shirt and gray pants had entered their residence, raided the refrigerator and walked out to the porch.

Deputy Finds Suspect Holding Liquor and Food

A deputy arrived within about four minutes and found a man matching the description sitting on the porch, the St. Johns Citizen reported.

He was holding a bottle of liquor and a plastic bag containing food.

The man denied breaking into the home or stealing anything. He told deputies he was "simply there to party," according to the arrest report as reported by the St. Johns Citizen.

Stolen Items Included Beer, Soda and Dressing

The stolen property told a different story. Deputies said the haul included two Coors Light beers, a can of Coca-Cola, a bottle of ranch dressing, bug spray and a gray shirt. The homeowners valued the items at about $50 and said they had been taken from a laundry room. The room was accessed through a closed exterior door, the report states.

Suspect Gave Deputies a False Birth Date

The suspect also gave deputies a false name. He provided a birth date that would have made him 81 years old, according to the arrest report. Deputies found his Florida identification card during a search, revealing his actual age of 60.

He faces burglary, grand theft and providing false identification charges.
