St. Johns County residents who want to vote by mail in the 2026 general election face a 5 p.m. deadline Thursday, Oct. 22, to request a ballot.

The St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections posted the deadline alert on X on Thursday, Oct. 22, noting voters can request a mail ballot online or by calling 904-823-2238. The county elections website lists the same cutoff.

The deadline is firm. Voters who miss it still have options through early voting, which opened Wednesday, Oct. 21, and runs daily through Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at all 10 early voting sites across the county.

For residents in the St. Johns, Fruit Cove and Julington Creek area, two locations are closest: the Julington Creek Annex at 725 Flora Branch Blvd. and the RiverHouse at RiverTown at 140 Landing St., both in St. Johns 32259. The Ponte Vedra Branch Library at 101 Library Blvd. in Ponte Vedra Beach is another option for north-county voters.

The full list of early voting locations also includes The Players Community Senior Center in Ponte Vedra Beach, the St. Johns County Convention Center on South Legacy Trail, the Supervisor of Elections Office on Avenue A in St. Augustine, Solomon Calhoun Community Center on Duval Street, St. Augustine Beach City Hall, the Southeast Branch Library on US 1 South and the W.E. Harris Community Center in Hastings.

Photo and signature identification is required for in-person voting, according to the elections office.

Voters who already received a mail ballot have until 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, to return it. Mail ballots can be sent back by mail, dropped at secure ballot intake stations available at early voting sites during voting hours, or delivered in person to the Elections Office. The elections office warns that mail ballots cannot be returned to Election Day precincts.

On Election Day, polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters must cast their ballot at their assigned precinct.
